Aldersgate Renewal Ministries (ARM) is the working name of the United Methodist Renewal Services Fellowship, Inc. ARM is a non-political and non-adversarial movement who is committed to equipping individuals and churches to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit.
As an affiliate of the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church through The Upper Room, ARM is in a ministry relationship of mutual support and cooperation. This relationship in the faith focuses specifically on helping each to fulfill the mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. ARM is more concerned with lighting candles rather than cursing the darkness. ARM encourages dialogue within the UMC and seeks to interpret the movement of the Holy Spirit to the rest of the church and the rest of the church to the renewal movement. We celebrate the richness of our Wesleyan heritage and history, recognizing that John Wesley's theology of grace is in fact a theology of the Holy Spirit.
ARM is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and is sustained solely by the grace of God flowing through the gifts of individuals and churches who have a passion to nurture, educate and equip others to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit. ARM receives no funds from the UMC. ARM is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
ARM is governed by a Board of Directors and receives guidance and input from an Advisory Council.
