An Overview of ARM's Prayer Ministries

ARM endeavors to saturate all of our plans and programs in prayer.  We trust the Holy Spirit to empower us to minister equipping, healing, restoration and encouragement to clergy and lay people in a variety of settings. The calling on ARM is extensive and we believe this requires an extensive network of intercessors who will pray for the renewal of the church by the power of the Holy Spirit. 

Our prayer ministry includes:

1. The ARM Intercessors Network – A monthly prayer letter is sent out to anyone willing to pray.  Most of the letters are emailed.  Each year at our Aldersgate Conference we sponsor an “Intercessors Gathering.”  This meal and informal time of networking has proven to be a real source of encouragement to our intercessors. 2. Targeted intercession of UMC Council of Bishops – We encourage all of our intercessors to pray regularly for the Council of Bishops.  (See the 30 Day Prayer Calendar for the Council of Bishops.)

3. Prayer Ministry at Aldersgate – There are numerous opportunities for prayer at our national conference.  We sponsor a prayer room, a prayer walk, and a variety of equipping sessions on prayer.  We have endeavored to make prayer a priority at Aldersgate.  Each general session concludes with an opportunity to receive personal prayer from trained prayer teams.  Our prayer teams are all members of the ARM Board of Directors and Advisory Council. 

4. Pre-Conference Prayer and Worship – Aldersgate begins with 24 hours of prayer and worship meant to provide a firm foundation of prayer for all participants of the conference.  Clergy and lay people alike attend these concerts of prayer.  (See the related articles on Pre-Conference and how to register for this segment of Aldersgate.)

5. On-site prayer at the Aldersgate Renewal Center - We have a wonderful prayer room at the ARC.  It is a place for quiet individual prayer and the place for corporate prayer during all of our events at the ARC.  If the Lord leads you to come away for a time of prayer, ARM may be able to help facilitate that.  We have cottages that can be used for retreats by pastors and lay people and know that the prayer room is open for your use.  (See related article on the cottage ministry.)

6. Prayer events to equip your local church – There are currently two team-led local church renewal events sponsored by ARM.  See related articles for “Lord, Teach Us to Pray” (LTUTP) and “Pathways to a Praying Church ” (PPC) seminars and how you can request those events for your local church or district. 

7. Prayer Guides– The web site now contains a variety of prayer guides that may be helpful to your local church prayer ministry. 

8. Prayer Resources – Check out our on-line book store for suggestions of prayer resources.
