Regional Affiliate Renewal Fellowship
Covenant Relationship

Revised January 1996

Purpose
To support the development of a fellowship of persons, within an Annual Conference or seminary committed to the vision and work of Aldersgate Renewal Ministries (The United Methodist Renewal Services Fellowship, Inc.) to help bring renewal to the United Methodist Church through the person and work of the Holy Spirit To develop an ongoing program of ministries to the people and churches within the fellowship's area.

Overview
Regional Affiliate Renewal Fellowships (RARE) will be program oriented, helping to extend the ministry of ARM on a more local level through intercessory prayer, education, and encouragement via such means as Holy Spirit Conferences, Praise and Worship Services, Life in the Spirit Seminars, prayer ministries at Annual Conference sessions.

Regional Affiliates are non-adversarial and may NOT be political action committees, nor political caucus groups, nor sponsors of legislation.

Regional Affiliates are required to renew their covenant relationship annually.

These Regional Affiliates will develop as a number of persons in a geographical area desire to:

  1. Meet together on a regular basis for intercessory prayer, fellowship and support
  2. Conduct at least one annual event/conference/retreat gathering
  3. Contribute financially to the work of ARM on an annual basis
  4. Receive assistance and guidance from ARM in the work of renewal at the seminary or annual conference level

Any official relationship to an Annual Conference would be facilitated by each RARF in a manner appropriate to the local setting and in keeping with the position of ARM expressed in "Guidelines: The United Methodist Church and the Charismatic Movement, 1976" and "Reflections on the Identity of Manna Ministries (ARM) and A Fourth Draft of Guidelines for Service Under its Auspices. "

There will be no more than one Regional Affiliate in each annual conference so there will be unified communication with Annual Conference leadership and with ARM. The RARF would be encouraged to break itself down into different geographic areas within the conference boundaries to reach all constituents in the best manner possible, but there will be just ONE steering committee for the RARF in each annual conference.

A RARF may be developed across conference boundaries on a temporary basis until constituencies within the annual conferences are large enough to form a RARF in each of the conferences.

Legal Identity

Regional Affiliate Renewal Fellowships may identify with the UMRSF, Inc. (ARM) in print by two methods, viz.:

  1. (Name of Annual Conference/Seminary) Renewal Fellowship
  2. By stating, (Name of Fellowship) is affiliated with UMRSF, Inc. or with Aldersgate Renewal Ministries.

Regional Affiliate Renewal Fellowships are not subsidiaries/chapters of UMRSF, Inc., (ARM) and have no authority to represent or obligate UMRSF, Inc. financially, theologically, philosophically, politically or otherwise unless specifically authorized in writing for a specific event or occasion.
